As a hyperobject, (to borrow Timmothy Morton's term) hormones constitute a socio-political-material web of becomings massively distributed through time and space. Made up of power structures and ideological frameworks that have co-created bodies, subjectivities, and genders. Made up of geopolitical struggles, state enforced frameworks for the ownership of biomolecules, and socio-political theories in scientific drag. This hormonal hyperobject complicates basic binary notions of nature / culture, cause and effect.
